Hello, I’m Emma, welcome to my website - Here you’ll find examples of my art work past and present, which I will try and keep updated as I produce new images. I’ve written a little bit about my work, style and inspirations to give you some background to my design work, I hope you find it interesting...
I work as an artist producing clean, crisp prints, full of colour, texture and strong pattern. I am a member of Birmingham Printmakers, where I specialise in silkscreen printing. I design and hand print my work to make quality finished pieces of art for your wall. Working from my studio, I also create paintings in oils and acrylics creating landscapes of pattern in rich colours.
Landscapes and nature have been a continuing source of inspiration for me - the changing colours of the seasons, and the patterns and textures they create. Whether it’s the hard geometric lines of the city or more natural organic shapes, my pictures are all sensory snapshots, which I abstract and recreate into vivid two-dimensional designs.
I studied printed textile design at Nottingham Trent University, graduating in 2003 and went on to work as a photographer in a Nottingham based studio, where I was able to develop a deeper understanding of how colour, light, shadow and composition can create and effect a mood. I always had a passion for textiles and printing! So now I am self-employed and as I come to the end of my first year I’ve got to say I love designing, so look out for many more to come!
